The Turkish National Team bid farewell to the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a 1-0 defeat to Paraguay in Group D. The team, which failed to score in its last two matches and did not deliver the expected performance, became the target of criticism.

Former international footballer and pundit Nihat Kahveci, in an assessment on the Kontra YouTube channel, targeted the team's star player Arda Güler. Kahveci argued that players who should have taken responsibility on the pitch did not show enough initiative.

"Those who should have taken responsibility did not take responsibility on the pitch. I see those who shirk their duties. Who are they? I see them…" Kahveci said, directing his criticism at Arda Güler.

Kahveci stated, "Arda Güler shirked responsibility, there are no excuses. Arda, who plays for Real Madrid, who represents us with pride there, should not take so little responsibility!"
