The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources announced that the energy cooperation between Turkey and Azerbaijan has entered a new phase within the scope of Baku Energy Week. According to the ministry's statement, an agreement regarding natural gas supply was signed within the framework of the Baku Energy Forum. The agreement is based on new production investments to be made in the Absheron Field. Accordingly, Turkey will receive a total of 33 billion cubic meters of natural gas from Azerbaijan for 15 years starting from 2029. Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar recalled that the agreement was announced to the public at the beginning of the year. Bayraktar stated that the supply will be at the level of 2.25 billion cubic meters annually and the total amount will reach 33 billion cubic meters. The ministry's assessment noted that the agreement will support Turkey's goal of becoming an energy hub and contribute to supply security on a regional and European scale. The long-term planning of the supply was also highlighted. In the background, it is seen that the energy cooperation between the two countries has a long history. Turkey and Azerbaijan continue to strengthen their ties in natural gas through existing energy corridors and joint projects. This new step also stands out in terms of Turkey's goal to increase diversity in natural gas supply. The gas coming from the Absheron Field is expected to be an important topic in medium-term energy planning.
