The AHBAP probe now includes a U.S.-linked claim involving millions of dollars. Justice Minister Akın Gürlek said a person with a clinic in the United States stated that they had given $4.6 million to Haluk Levent. According to Gürlek, a promissory note was also issued for the money. However, the case is not limited to this.
Gürlek said numerous similar promissory notes were being examined as part of the investigation, and that statements had been taken from people who said they had paid money in cash or transferred real estate. One of the most notable figures in the investigation is $245 million.
According to the ministry, the use of approximately $245 million in donations collected by AHBAP, particularly during the earthquake period, and related money movements are being investigated through MASAK reports. Allegations that some real estate was transferred through different individuals, as well as aid supplies that were allegedly left unused in warehouses, are among the other aspects of the investigation.
