Turkey's National Intelligence Organization (MIT) conducted an operation targeting Ahmet Kazancı, who is alleged to have been ISIS's so-called Turkish Media Chief.
As a result of MIT's intelligence work, it was determined that Kazancı had traveled from Turkey to the Afghanistan-Pakistan area and joined ISIS's Khorasan Province (ISKP). It was established that Kazancı performed active duties in the organization's camps.
Organizational Links
It was determined that Ahmet Kazancı operated together with Özgür Altun, codenamed 'Abu Yasir Al Turki', who played an active role in transferring organization members from Turkey to the Afghanistan-Pakistan region and was previously captured in Pakistan and brought to Turkey.
It was also established that Kazancı took over the organizational activities, replacing Özgür Altun after his capture.
Return to Turkey and Capture
It was learned that Kazancı survived airstrikes targeting ISIS elements in Pakistan and, following his organizational activities in the Afghanistan-Pakistan region, planned to continue his work by illegally entering Turkey.
Following this development, MIT moved to launch an operation targeting Kazancı. Ahmet Kazancı, who used the codename 'Abu Ubeyde/Abu İbrahim', was captured in an operation conducted in a border region.
After his capture, Kazancı was brought to Konya, underwent a health check, and his statement was taken at the Konya Police Department's Counter-Terrorism Branch.
After procedures at the police were completed, Ahmet Kazancı was referred to the judiciary and arrested by the court before which he was brought.
