Amanda Seyfried announced that she was selected for a biographical film about Joni Mitchell that will no longer be made. The actress said the project planned to tell the story of Mitchell and her manager Elliot Roberts.
Seyfried recounted meeting Mitchell for dinner during the preparation process and listening to the Blue album together. She also recalled Mitchell’s comments about the album, describing the experience as special for her.
While preparing for the role, Seyfried learned to play all the songs on the Blue album and said she was moved on the day she completed the last track. The actress noted that this work made her feel like a true musician.
Seyfried’s remarks also brought to mind her previous performance of "California" playing the dulcimer on a television show. Her interest in musical roles and preparation process resurfaced in light of this canceled project.
The report also mentioned that Cameron Crowe is working on a separate biopic about Mitchell. Seyfried shared that Meryl Streep stars in that production and that Crowe’s narrative will portray Mitchell at both younger and older ages.
Although her own film was canceled, Seyfried emphasized that the experience of portraying Mitchell remained significant to her. Even without the project’s completion, Seyfried’s connection to music and her preparation process became notable topics in Hollywood.
