Ambassador Sedat Önal meets Turkish-American business community in Miami
Turkey’s Ambassador to Washington Sedat Önal attended the Turkish-American Chamber of Commerce (TACCS) 2026 Annual Gala in Miami. At the event, which was also attended by U.S. Representative Joe Wilson, Miami-Dade Mayor Eileen Higgins and Doral Mayor Christi Fraga, Önal emphasized the importance of Turkish-American relations and unity within the Turkish community in the United States.
Turkey’s Ambassador to Washington Sedat Önal attended TACCS Gala 2026, which brought together representatives of the Turkish and American business communities in Florida. Held on September 12 at the Rusty Pelican in Miami, the event featured messages on strengthening Turkish-American economic relations and ties between the two communities. This year’s theme was “Two Nations, One Celebration,” marking the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence.
U.S. politicians also attended the gala
According to a statement from the Embassy of Türkiye in Washington, U.S. Representative Joe Wilson, Miami-Dade Mayor Eileen Higgins and Doral Mayor Christi Fraga also attended the evening. TACCS had announced before the event that Wilson would attend the gala.
Önal: Turkish-American relations are experiencing one of their best periods in recent history
Speaking at the gala, Ambassador Sedat Önal said Turkish-American relations were experiencing one of their best periods in recent history. He said dialogue between the leaders of the two countries, institutional coordination and regional cooperation had played an important role in this process.
Önal’s positive assessment of the current course of Turkish-American relations is consistent with his previous remarks. At a Republic Day event in Washington, the ambassador had also said relations between the two countries were in “a very positive and optimistic period.”
Önal delivers message of unity to the Turkish-American community
In his speech, Ambassador Önal said the Turkish community living in the United States served as a bridge between the two countries in many areas, particularly economic, political, cultural and social relations.
Emphasizing that the position of the Turkish-American community in the United States should be further strengthened, Önal highlighted the importance of the community acting in unity and solidarity to defend Türkiye’s national interests.
Önal had previously said at Turkish Day events in New York that they encouraged the Turkish community in the United States to play a more active role in various fields, including politics, the economy, culture and the arts.
Turkish and American companies come together at the gala
According to TACCS’s official statement, the gala was organized to bring together Turkish and American companies, community leaders and representatives from various sectors. Ambassador Sedat Önal attended the program as the evening’s keynote speaker.
The event also placed particular emphasis on the economic ties between Türkiye and the United States. TACCS described the gala as a gathering aimed at developing trade relations, cross-border investment and mutual economic cooperation between the two countries.
TACCS President Erhan Çevikel and chamber members involved in organizing the event were also congratulated by the Embassy of Türkiye in Washington for the successful gathering.
