A silver hoard dating to the Viking Age was found in Rebild Municipality in northern Denmark during foundation excavation for a home terrace.
The finds include silver bars, jewelry, coins and hammers. The hoard contains more than 700 objects and has a total weight of 18.5 kilograms.

This weight is approximately three times that of the last silver hoard previously found in Denmark.
Lars Christian Norbah, director of the Museum of North Jutland, said the finds were highly significant both for their weight and their historical value.
Archaeologists will conduct research in the area to determine the origin of the silver objects. The finds’ monetary value will be determined by the National Museum of Denmark.
