Following the crisis and production shortfall at İSFALT, a subsidiary of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB), the AK Party-led Arnavutköy Municipality has put its own asphalt production plant into service.
The ARFALT Asphalt, Bitumen and Road Chemicals Integrated Production Facility was established on a 15,000-square-meter site. The plant houses two large mixing units and has a total asphalt production capacity of 400 tons per hour. It will also manufacture products such as asphalt emulsion, modified bitumen and packaged cold asphalt.
The opening ceremony was attended by AK Party Istanbul Provincial Chair Abdullah Özdemir, Istanbul MP Seda Gören Bölük and Arnavutköy Mayor Mustafa Candaroğlu.
Speaking at the ceremony, AK Party Provincial Chair Abdullah Özdemir claimed that the İBB fails to provide adequate services despite its budget. Özdemir said, "On one side, there is the huge İBB, and on the other, Arnavutköy Municipality, which uses its budget most efficiently. When we compare services, Arnavutköy has brought far more investment to its district with its own budget."
Meanwhile, 85 new work machines and service vehicles were also introduced at the ceremony.
