The statements of Muhittin Böcek, who was arrested and suspended from duty within the scope of the bribery and corruption investigation conducted by the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, and his son Gökhan Böcek have emerged. Gökhan Böcek claimed that he collected and delivered a large amount of money for his father's candidacy at the request of CHP Chairman Özgür Özel and Veli Ağbaba.
In his statement, Gökhan Böcek said that Veli Ağbaba called him on the instructions of Özgür Özel and that 1 million euros were requested for his father's candidacy. He stated that he delivered this money to Ağbaba through an intermediary. Additionally, he reported that when Özgür Özel came to Antalya, 200 thousand dollars were delivered in a bag and that 15 million lira was given to the party during the Konyaaltı mayoral election process.
Muhittin Böcek, in his statement, admitted that his son's statements were correct and that he gave instructions to his son to meet the financial demands coming from the headquarters. He stated that actions were taken in this direction following the statements made by Özgür Özel during the meeting. However, he said he did not know the details regarding the delivery of 200 thousand dollars.
It was also learned that Zuhal Böcek, Muhittin Böcek's daughter-in-law, gave an additional statement within the scope of the investigation. Official statements about the details of the statements and the course of the investigation are awaited.
These developments may initiate new discussions about internal party financial demands and practices during the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality mayoral election process. Official statements and clarifications are expected as the investigation progresses.
