An attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, killed 12 people and injured 309. The attack targeted one of the passenger terminals at the airport.
Turki al-Maliki, spokesperson for the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen, held the Houthis responsible for the attack, which took place on Saturday. Al-Maliki said passengers and airport employees were among those killed and injured.
Al-Maliki argued that the attack constituted a war crime under international humanitarian law and customary rules. He said the coalition's Joint Forces Command would respond forcefully in accordance with international humanitarian law.

Nationalities of those killed released
Saudi civil aviation authorities said that those killed included four Saudi nationals and two Bangladeshi nationals. The other fatalities were nationals of the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine and Sudan.
The 309 injured people were taken to hospitals for treatment. Authorities said some of the injured were in critical condition.

Airport operations temporarily suspended
Airport operations were temporarily suspended on Saturday because of the attack. Authorities worked to verify the safety of the facilities and assess the damage.
The attack also caused material damage at the airport, and inspections continued to determine its extent. The incident came after a series of recent missile and drone attacks by the Houthis on airports and other facilities in Saudi Arabia.
