Aziz Yıldırım: I’ll leave after May and won’t fire Kartal if he quits

Fenerbahçe President Aziz Yıldırım announced at the High Divan Council’s regular meeting that he would no longer be in office after May. Yıldırım said he would not dismiss coach İsmail Kartal even if Kartal resigned.

Fenerbahçe President Aziz Yıldırım announced in a speech at the club’s regular High Divan Council meeting that he would no longer serve as president after May. Yıldırım said, "I won’t be here after May. I won’t come to the council again. I won’t come to the club again either. I will explain why. Stand up for your club."

Yıldırım also criticized the low attendance at the meetings and asked members to support the team and coach İsmail Kartal until May. He also said he believed they would become champions at the end of the season.

Responding to criticism of his choice of coach, Yıldırım said, "I said, ‘İsmail Kartal isn’t in my plans.’ Didn’t you come out at every meeting and say, ‘Not Aykut Kocaman, let it be İsmail Kartal’? What do you want?"

Yıldırım also addressed Kartal’s future, saying, "If İsmail Kartal fails, he cannot return here again. If İsmail Kartal resigns, I won’t fire him."
