Mohamed Salah posted a message containing the Turkish phrase "35 percent" on his account after Trabzonspor defeated Beşiktaş 2-0. Published on Tuesday, the message included four images, including a photograph of Salah celebrating the second goal he scored against Beşiktaş.
Salah did not explain what he meant by the phrase "35 percent" in his message. However, its timing prompted speculation that it was a response to comments by Beşiktaş President Serdal Adalı about the Egyptian footballer’s transfer process.
The commission debate
Adalı said that Salah’s agent, Rami Abbas, had requested a 35 percent commission for the transfer to be completed and described the rate as unacceptable for the club’s management.
The phrase "35 percent" had previously been used in a joke between Salah and his agent Abbas. On August 18, Abbas shared a photograph taken while he was eating Turkish dessert with Salah, and the Trabzonspor jersey visible in the image drew attention.
In the caption, Salah asked which of the dessert plates Abbas had finished. Abbas joked that he had completely finished his own plate and had also eaten 35 percent of Salah’s dessert without Salah noticing. Comments following the photograph brought Adalı’s remarks about the commission back into the spotlight.
Trabzonspor had previously announced through Türkiye’s public disclosure platform that the commission paid to Abbas amounted to 5 percent of the transfer fee.

Salah leads the scoring charts
Salah’s goal against Beşiktaş helped Trabzonspor increase its points total to 16. Trabzonspor rose to fourth place in the league standings, while Beşiktaş remained fifth with 15 points.
The Egyptian footballer raised his league goal tally to eight and moved into first place in the scoring race. Nigeria’s Gift Emmanuel Orban, Kosovo’s Vedat Muriqi and Uzbekistan’s Eldor Shomurodov followed Salah one goal behind.
After his time at Liverpool in England, Salah began a new chapter of his football career in Türkiye with Trabzonspor. The footballer spent nine years at Liverpool, contributing to the success of a team that won domestic and continental trophies during that period.
