The number of people who have died from dengue fever in Bangladesh since the start of the year has risen to 364. Dhaka Tribune, citing information from Bangladesh’s Directorate General of Health Services, reported that seven people died and 1,373 new cases were recorded in the past 24 hours.
A total of 116,990 people have been diagnosed with dengue fever in the country this year. The disease claimed 413 lives last year and 575 lives in 2024.

Dengue fever, which occurs in tropical and subtropical regions, is transmitted to humans by mosquitoes. The disease usually causes a mild fever but can be fatal in some cases. Cases in Bangladesh generally increase during the rainy season.
Scientists warn that high temperatures and prolonged rainfall contribute to the proliferation of mosquitoes that transmit the disease. Since mosquitoes lay their larvae in stagnant water, areas with accumulated water should be treated regularly with insecticide.
