Bangladesh State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir said his country is interested in joining the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement between Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.
Kabir said Bangladesh is now recognized by more countries and that Muslim countries in West Asia and around the world, in particular, want to see the Bangladeshi administration led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on various platforms.
Stating that it would not be unusual for Muslim countries to have a security agreement, Kabir said the possibility of Bangladesh joining the agreement was being viewed positively.
Signed in Mecca
Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan signed a joint defense agreement at a trilateral summit held in Mecca. The agreement was signed on August 7 at Al-Safa Palace by Türkiye's President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The agreement aims to strengthen joint security, deepen defense cooperation, and promote peace and stability in the region and beyond.
