Barcelona has added 18-year-old Egyptian footballer Hamza Abdelkarim to its squad. The club decided to exercise the purchase option included in the agreement with the Egyptian club Al Ahly, from which the player arrived on loan.
In a statement, the Catalan club said, "Barcelona has informed Al Ahly of its decision to exercise the purchase option for Hamza Abdelkarim. The Egyptian forward will join the club permanently and will sign a three-season contract until June 30, 2029."
Last season's performance was effective
Hamza Abdelkarim joined Barcelona on loan during the last winter transfer window. The young player's performance with the under-19 team led the club to exercise its purchase option.
Abdelkarim scored his first goal for Barcelona on March 8 in a 2-2 draw against Huesca. The young footballer, who managed to score six goals in nine matches he played in the second division throughout the season, also scored a hat-trick in the 9-0 victory over Montcarlo that secured the championship.
The Egyptian player also appeared in two matches in the youth Copa del Rey, where Barcelona finished as runners-up.
With the Egypt National Team at the 2026 World Cup
Hamza Abdelkarim is currently part of the Egypt national team squad competing in the 2026 World Cup, being held in the USA, Canada, and Mexico. The player featured in matches against Belgium and New Zealand in the tournament's seventh group.
