Belgian Prince Laurent officially recognizes Clement as his son
Belgian Prince Laurent has officially recognized 26-year-old Clement, whom he identified as his biological son last year, in official records. King Philippe must sign a royal decree for Clement to use the title Prince of Belgium.

Clement will not be included in the line of succession
The Belgian Constitution provides that the throne passes to "legitimate descendants." For this reason, Clement, who was born outside marriage, will not be included in the line of succession to the Belgian throne.
He announced his paternity in 2025
In a statement in 2025, Prince Laurent confirmed longstanding public speculation and announced that he was Clement's biological father.
Clement was born from a relationship between Prince Laurent and singer and television star Iris Vandenkerckhove, known in Belgium by the name "Wendy Van Wanten."
