Karahan presents an economic outlook
Fatih Karahan, governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye, delivered a presentation titled “Macroeconomic Outlook and Monetary Policy in Türkiye” at the annual meetings organized by the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand.
Karahan said that core inflation was slowing despite energy prices remaining at elevated levels. He said the preference for the Turkish lira continued to remain strong under tight monetary policy and stated that capital outflows had not significantly weakened residents’ interest in Turkish lira-denominated assets.
