Charlottetown Liberal MP Sean Casey says he was removed as parliamentary secretary to the minister of veterans affairs after voting for NDP MP Jenny Kwan’s Bill C-233, the “No More Loopholes Act,” which sought to stop Canadian military equipment from reaching Israel through third countries. The bill was defeated.
Casey was one of 15 Liberals who backed the bill and the only parliamentary secretary among them. He said the whip had warned him in March. Quebec MP Sophie Chatel replaced him. Kwan called the move “distressing” and said it “should concern all Canadians.”
