The centuries-old Hacet Festival in Yazılar village, part of Mudurnu district in Bolu, began this year with wide participation. Hundreds gathered in the village square for the event.
Giant cauldrons were set up late into the night. A total of 600 kilograms of meat and 650 kilograms of bulgur were cooked and served to the attendees.
Whirling dervish performance held for the first time
The traditional flow of the Hacet Festival also included wrestling competitions. This year, the addition of a whirling dervish performance brought a unique color to the event.
The whirling dervish show attracted great interest from those attending the festival. The program in the village also featured a recital of religious hymns.
Mehmet Akşit, the headman of Yazılar village, stated that the Hacet Festival fosters unity among people and symbolizes a wish for abundance. Akşit noted that this year, for the first time in Mudurnu, they organized a whirling dervish performance and a hymn program, followed by wrestling matches to conclude the festival.
Participants experienced the traditional festive atmosphere while also closely following the newly added performance this year. The gathering in Yazılar village demonstrated that local traditions in Mudurnu have been enriched with a new program this year.
