Dirty water flowing from taps in some districts on Istanbul’s Anatolian side caused significant public concern.
Residents in Maltepe, Kartal, and Pendik shared images of dirty water coming from their kitchen and bathroom taps on social media. These posts criticized the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration (ISKI), demanding a solution to the problem.
ISKI stated on social media that the issue originated from a fault at the Şeyhli Depot outlet. The announcement noted that a mandatory water cut was implemented in the area due to this fault.
According to the agency, teams are conducting discharge operations in the region to clear the contamination caused after the water cut. ISKI assured that the problem will be resolved as soon as possible.
Images of dirty water became a topic of discussion in some neighborhoods, especially from the morning hours. Residents emphasized that the water flowing from their taps was not suitable for use and called for swift intervention from the authorities.
