Disney Created Fake Version to Conceal Taylor Swift’s Contribution to Toy Story 5
Disney used a fake version of the film to keep Taylor Swift’s song for Toy Story 5 a secret. It was confirmed in recent days that the song was written and produced by Swift.
Disney prepared a fake version of Toy Story 5 to keep Taylor Swift’s involvement under wraps. The song, written and produced by the singer specifically for the film, was officially confirmed only recently.
The film is set to premiere on June 19. However, despite the production being underway for a long time, Swift’s participation in the project was only publicly confirmed in the last few days.
Secret Collaboration
A visual effects supervisor on the production team revealed that very few people were aware of this contribution. According to them, Disney and Pixar showed the press and staff a completed version of the film that did not include the song.
The same source said even the core team was unaware of the surprise song until last week. The version used in early screenings was deliberately prepared without it for this reason.
It was reported that Swift wrote the song after seeing an early screening in February and then offered it to the team. The production accepted the offer, and the project has been kept confidential since then.
Swift’s Statement
Following the announcement, Swift said she had long dreamed of writing a song for these characters. She shared that she has loved the series since watching the first Toy Story film as a child and wrote the new song immediately after seeing an early version.
The artist also expressed that creating for the character Jessie was both a new challenge and a familiar feeling. She emphasized how special it was to return to this world by sharing a childhood video of herself dressed as Jessie.
The Film’s New Storyline
Toy Story 5 will explore the new chapter following Woody’s departure to stay with Bo Peep in the previous film. Jessie will become the leader of Bonnie’s room, with Buzz Lightyear as her assistant in the story.
This time, the new toy capturing Bonnie’s attention will be Lilypad, a tablet resembling a frog. Another surprise cast member is Bad Bunny, who will voice a talking slice of pizza described as a forgotten toy.
Swift’s involvement has fueled months of curiosity around the film. Her mysterious countdown shared in May was one of the details that heightened fans’ anticipation.
