Ayşegül Balım Yabacı, an 11th-grade student at Doğa Koleji, became the world champion in an international math competition, outperforming all her rivals. The event, held annually since 2013, saw the participation of approximately 2,300 students from 26 countries this year.
Displaying an outstanding performance in the competition, Yabacı received the 'Diamond Medal', the 'World Star' award, and the title of 'Champion'. Her participation was supported by the TÜBİTAK 4001-B International Competition/Event Participation Support Program.
A student at the Karabük Science and Art Center (BİLSEM) and a participant in the DENEYAP Technology Workshops, Yabacı is also a scholarship holder of the T3 Foundation Özdemir Bayraktar National Technology Scholarship Program. The young talent had previously reached the semi-finals with five different projects at TEKNOFEST 2026.
Upon returning to Turkey as the world champion, Yabacı was welcomed at the Doğa Koleji headquarters by Salih Aydın, founder of the Karabük Campus, and Dr. Çağla Özdemir Aydın, founding representative. She was presented with a plaque and a success award by Selim Genç, founding representative and general manager of Doğa Koleji.
Selim Genç stated that Yabacı's achievement was a significant indicator of disciplined work, proper guidance, and quality education, saying, 'I wholeheartedly congratulate our student who brought us this pride, her family, her teachers, and all our education staff who contributed.'
Ayşegül Balım Yabacı, for her part, said the world championship was a goal she had been pursuing for a long time, adding, 'I thank my family, my teachers, and Doğa Koleji for believing in me throughout this process. My biggest advice to my young friends is: never give up on your dreams, work hard, and no matter what obstacles you face, do not give up.'
