Land NCO Vocational School students displayed their military skills during the year-end drill held at the National Defense University (MSÜ) Land Forces Academy ATAT Regional Unit Command. First-year students went through an intensive 6-week camp, while second-year students completed a 2-week camp.
In addition to male and female students, 143 guest military students from 10 different countries also participated in the training. The students received hands-on field training in basic military subjects such as shooting, infiltration courses, combat formations, scenario-based training, swimming, and hand-to-hand combat.
As part of joint training activities, the program included firefighting, boat operations, improvised explosive device (IED) activities, introduction of the Mine and Improvised Explosive Device Detection and Disposal (METİ) team, helicopter familiarization and guidance, presentation of equipment in the Special Forces Command inventory, and training for amphibious and air assault operations.
Students who performed tasks on courses set up according to various scenarios enhanced their decision-making, coordination, and operational skills in difficult terrain. At the conclusion of the training, the candidates solidified their readiness for the NCO profession, having been instilled with discipline and loyalty.
A platoon commander serving in the student battalion stated that the military training provided during the academic term was reinforced with practical activities at the camp. The commander said, 'We aim to train candidates as commanders who can operate under the toughest conditions with resilience, courage, and a warrior spirit.'
One NCO candidate who participated in the training said that his reason for choosing the Land NCO Vocational School was to become a regular NCO committed to Atatürk's principles and reforms, with advanced military skills and leadership qualities. Another candidate stated that the swimming training provided the ability to operate in the challenging conditions of water and nature, while hand-to-hand combat and warfare training strengthened quick reflexes, correct decision-making, courage, and deterrence in critical moments.
