In a post marking International Literacy Day on September 8, Emine Erdoğan said education initiatives have changed many people’s lives.
Erdoğan said that the “Come on Girls, Let’s Go to School” initiative in Türkiye had enabled many girls to start school. She said the “My Mother and I Are at School” campaign had shown that learning is not limited to a particular age.
Erdoğan said steps taken to ensure that no dream remains unfulfilled because of inadequate access to education had contributed to changing the lives of countless people over the years. She also expressed her satisfaction with the results of the efforts.
Erdoğan said every hand holding a pen today, every girl returning to school and everyone rejoicing at learning their first word represented the finest fruits of these efforts.
Congratulating those who have benefited from education initiatives, Emine Erdoğan wished the power of learning and the abundance of knowledge would inspire even more people.
World Literacy Day has been observed since 1967 to highlight the importance of reading and writing skills in building sustainable, fair and peaceful societies.
