President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan evaluated King Charles III's visit to Cambridge Central Mosque. Erdoğan stated that the visit was very valuable at a time when anti-Islam sentiment and cultural racism are escalating globally.
In his written statement, Erdoğan expressed great satisfaction that the mosque hosted an extraordinarily meaningful visit yesterday, and said, "We see that our mosque, which has been a symbol of solidarity against discrimination and respect against hatred since its first brick was laid, is successfully fulfilling this mission."
Erdoğan drew attention to King Charles's emphasis on people of different cultures, origins, and faiths living together in peace, and stressed that the King's efforts in this regard are well known. Sending his greetings to the friendly British people, Erdoğan stated that he would be pleased to host King Charles in Turkey. Erdoğan also noted that he respectfully greeted the members of the Muslim community living in the United Kingdom, especially Turkish citizens.

Those Who Accompanied King Charles
Turkey's Ambassador to London, Osman Koray Ertaş, Cambridge Mosque Foundation Trustee Zeynep Coşkun Koç, and Deputy President of Religious Affairs Associate Prof. Dr. Selim Argun also accompanied King Charles during his visit. The King toured various sections of the mosque and received information from officials. The visit went down in history as one of the major visits by a British monarch to a Muslim place of worship.
First in Europe with Eco-Friendly Features
Cambridge Central Mosque, opened in 2019 with a ceremony attended by President Erdoğan, stands out as 'the first eco-friendly mosque in Europe'. The mosque features photovoltaic panels, air-source heat pumps, a sedum roof, natural ventilation systems, and wood sourced from sustainably managed forests.
The mosque, built with natural materials, also stands out with its zero carbon footprint feature. Approximately 40 percent of its electricity is generated from solar energy.
