Speaking at the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Türkiye President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said global policies aimed at erasing differences between the sexes were encroaching on families and children.
Erdoğan said protecting families and children begins with protecting families made up of a woman and a man, adding that Türkiye would continue to lead efforts to protect families and children despite attacks by lobbying groups.
Warning against Islamophobia and discrimination
Erdoğan said new social threats had emerged amid rapid global change, identifying Islamophobia, which he said was spreading in the West, as one of the foremost threats.
Erdoğan said Muslim women and girls had faced increasing discrimination in recent years, describing headscarf bans in schools in some countries as an attack on women’s fundamental rights.

Erdoğan also said xenophobia, cultural racism and antisemitism were movements that poisoned societies, stressing the need to combat them decisively.
Call for an international framework for artificial intelligence
Erdoğan said disinformation campaigns spreading on social media were among the factors threatening social peace, adding that defending the truth had become more important than ever.
He said the world faced a similar risk in the field of artificial intelligence and that regulating the technology was becoming increasingly difficult, stressing the need for a common international legal framework.
Erdoğan called for efforts to prepare and adopt an international convention on artificial intelligence under the United Nations to be accelerated.
