Trade Minister Ömer Bolat said Turkish communities living abroad play an important role in strengthening Türkiye’s economic, trade and global ties.
Bolat spoke at the Global Turks New York Forum, organized by the Global Turks organization, in New York, where he was attending the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Bolat said they were following an intensive program in New York, attending President Erdoğan’s bilateral meetings and holding various engagements as ministers.
The bridge-building role of Turkish communities
Bolat said Türkiye had made significant progress in recent years in organizing abroad and conducting diaspora initiatives, highlighting the importance of the activities carried out by Turks living in various countries, particularly the United States.

Bolat said Turks abroad contribute to promoting Türkiye through the spheres of influence they create in their communities, adding that these communities can serve as bridges between Türkiye and the countries where they live.
We are pleased to see strong Turkish communities in the countries we visit. Wherever we go in the world, we take great pride in the respect and appreciation that Türkiye receives as a strong actor.
Türkiye’s global visibility
Bolat said developments involving Turkish Airlines, Turkish television series, the gaming sector and industry also play an important role in Türkiye’s global presence. He noted that, alongside these factors, Turkish communities abroad strengthen Türkiye’s economic, trade and global connections.
