Selahattin Yalçın, father of Gazi University student Muhammed Yalçın, who was martyred by a bomb thrown in front of the Presidential Complex during FETÖ's July 15, 2016 coup attempt, recounted that night's events to SABAH.
Yalçın, the father of the martyr who was laid to rest in the Kazım Karabekir district of Karaman, said he could not forget the betrayal even after 10 years. Stating that his son was a patriot who willingly gave his life for this nation, Yalçın said, "We went out upon President Erdoğan's call. After returning home at night, my son went out again. When I called him early in the morning, he said, 'Dad, they threw a bomb 50 meters ahead; I'm going to help them.' Then there was a second explosion, and the sound from the phone cut off."
Yalçın, adding that he himself was on the street that night but martyrdom was destined for his son, said, "Long live the nation! He was martyred for the homeland and did not give way to the traitors."
