Former AK Party deputy chair Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya and her husband İlyas Kaya sent the portion of their investments beyond the principal to the voluntary return account of Türkiye’s Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF), DHA reported. The couple allegedly invested 163 million liras in Özata Denizcilik shares and earned about 2.17 billion liras from their sale; their assets had been frozen in the probe.

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office reviewed the couple’s application under the voluntary payment method announced by the Capital Markets Board and wrote to seven banks, asking that the amounts in the accounts listed in their petitions be transferred to the account of Birleşik Fon Bankası’s head office.
