Belözoğlu: “A perfect start”
Speaking after the match, Emre Belözoğlu said, “It was a perfect start for us. We need to acknowledge that. I am very happy that we have a group of players who continued to respond after that magnificent night in the Champions League.” Asked about the nine-point gap to the leaders, he replied, “We need to keep winning match by match. I told my players before the match that there are 72 points available. Fenerbahçe is always a contender in the competition it takes part in.”
Asked about İrfan Can Kahveci and Kerem Aktürkoğlu, who were not called up to the national team squad, Belözoğlu said he respected Sergen Yalçın’s decision but that both players were highly valuable.
İrfan Can: “I was upset when the invitation did not come”
İrfan Can Kahveci, who scored twice in his first match in his hometown of Çorum, said he was upset at not being called up to the national team. “I think I am in good form right now. Of course, I was upset when the invitation did not come; that is no lie. I did not do anything related to Coach Sergen in my goal celebration in this match,” he said, wishing the national team success.
Arca Çorum FK head coach Burak Yılmaz said they had started the match well but failed to capitalize on their chances, adding, “It was a disappointing night for us. I apologize to all our fans and to our president.”
