Galatasaray defeated Germany’s Stuttgart 2-0 at RAMS Park in the fourth week of the UEFA Champions League league phase. The star of the match was 21-year-old Russian midfielder Aleksey Batrakov, who scored twice four minutes apart during the opening quarter-hour. Galatasaray secured its second consecutive victory in the tournament to reach six points, while Stuttgart, which had seven points, suffered its first defeat.
Batrakov opened the scoring in the 12th minute. After Sallai entered the penalty area from the right and made his move, the Russian midfielder controlled the ball after it deflected off the defense and sent his shot into the net. In the 16th minute, Batrakov entered the penalty area after receiving Davinson Sanchez’s pass behind the defense and doubled the lead when he went one-on-one with the goalkeeper.

Uğurcan makes crucial saves
Stuttgart made a fast start to the match; Leweling’s eighth-minute shot hit both posts before returning to the field of play. Galatasaray’s Osimhen tried to extend the lead with a header and shots in the first half but was unsuccessful. The visiting side increased the pressure after the break: Uğurcan Çakır saved Deniz Undav’s shot in the 63rd minute, Stuttgart’s 75th-minute goal was ruled out for offside after a VAR review, and in the 86th minute the national-team goalkeeper denied Pejcinovic with his feet when the player was through one-on-one.
Galatasaray’s bench reacted after referee Chris Kavanagh showed only a yellow card in the second minute following Atakan Karazor’s hard challenge on Lemina. Okan Buruk made four changes from the Konyaspor match, bringing Abdülkerim Bardakcı, Ismail Jakobs, Mario Lemina and Barış Alper Yılmaz into the starting lineup. Before the match, a minute of silence was held for Tenerife footballer Jesus de Miguel, who died after colliding with the opposing goalkeeper.
The 25 million-euro signing is paying off
Galatasaray signed Batrakov from Lokomotiv Moscow in August for a transfer fee of approximately 25 million euros; Reuters reported that the Russian club will also receive 15 percent of the player’s next transfer. Galatasaray will host Aston Villa in its next Champions League match.
