Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a phone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. The meeting covered the ongoing negotiations between Iran and the United States and other regional developments.
The call came at a time when diplomatic contacts between Washington and Tehran had returned to the agenda following the midterm elections held in the United States on November 3. Through Qatar-mediated contacts, the parties are seeking the basis for a possible agreement.
Türkiye supports diplomacy
Türkiye has repeatedly emphasized its support for every step that would clear the way for diplomacy to establish peace and stability in the region. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also said during remarks he made aboard the plane on his return from South Korea today that his greatest wish was for the election results in the United States to contribute to lasting peace and stability in the region.
Fidan will also make a working visit to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus tomorrow to discuss the latest developments concerning the Cyprus issue.
