U.S. political scientist and author Norman Finkelstein said Türkiye is next on Israel’s list, citing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s attacks on the country in his speech at the United Nations General Assembly.
Speaking on a program hosted by podcaster Robinson Erhardt, Finkelstein said: “Netanyahu is proud of destroying six countries. In his UN speech, he started attacking Türkiye. So we know Türkiye is next.”
Netanyahu targeted Erdoğan from the UN podium
In his address to the 81st session of the UN General Assembly on Sept. 24, Netanyahu called President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan a “tyrant” and accused Türkiye of hosting Hamas leaders and spreading “antisemitic lies.”

Numerous delegations left the General Assembly hall during Netanyahu’s speech. Exercising its right of reply, Türkiye said: “We categorically reject the baseless and malicious accusations against Türkiye and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.” Several Turkish politicians, including AK Party spokesman Ömer Çelik, also condemned Netanyahu’s remarks.
Finkelstein, known for his sharp criticism of Israeli policy, has been a prominent critic of the Netanyahu government since the start of the war in Gaza. His latest book on Gaza, “Gaza’s Gravediggers,” was published this year.
