Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said after his visit to Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, that cooperation between Türkiye and Azerbaijan would be further deepened.
Fidan said it was a meaningful coincidence that the visit coincided with the 108th anniversary of Baku’s liberation from occupation. Describing Azerbaijan as a brotherly and allied country, Fidan said the two countries were acting in cooperation and solidarity in the face of global challenges and regional developments.
Meetings with Aliyev and Bayramov
During the visit, Fidan was received by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and held comprehensive talks with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.

The crises in the region were assessed during the talks. Views were exchanged on establishing lasting peace, stability and prosperity in the South Caucasus and on the common future of the Turkic world.
Economy, energy and security
Steps to further develop economic and trade relations between Türkiye and Azerbaijan were also on the agenda. Joint projects in the energy and transportation sectors, along with security cooperation, were discussed.
Fidan said Türkiye and Azerbaijan were islands of stability in a region facing numerous problems, adding that the two countries would continue to act shoulder to shoulder to achieve their common goals.
