The foreign ministers of Türkiye, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates issued a joint statement on Israel’s violations in the Gaza Strip.
The ministers described Israel’s actions in Gaza—including attacks targeting healthcare facilities and medical infrastructure, attacks on civilian infrastructure, and the continuing civilian casualties, including women and children—as grave violations of international law and international humanitarian law. They strongly condemned these violations.
Warning over the Gaza peace plan
The ministers said the continuation of the violations contravened not only international law but also the Gaza Peace Plan. They said that the continuation of the violations, after U.S. President Donald Trump announced the adoption of a roadmap that also includes restricting the weapons of Palestinian groups, was undermining international and regional efforts toward the plan’s second phase.
The ministers said the current situation threatened the political process and increased the risk of renewed escalation and a deepening humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.
Call to protect civilians and healthcare workers
The ministers stressed that protecting civilians and ensuring the safety of personnel working in healthcare facilities, healthcare services and humanitarian relief operations were legal obligations. They said humanitarian aid, medical supplies and emergency relief materials must be delivered immediately, safely and without obstruction throughout Gaza.
The ministers said the ongoing violations in Gaza could not be assessed independently of attacks by settlers in the occupied West Bank, the expansion of illegal settlements and actions aimed at unilaterally changing the existing status quo in occupied Jerusalem.
The ministers said these actions were part of a systematic policy aimed at creating facts on the ground through the use of force. They noted that such steps weakened the foundations of a two-state solution and marginalized the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. The ministers recalled that these activities clearly violated international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.
Call for effective measures from the UN Security Council
The ministers renewed their call on the international community, and particularly the United Nations Security Council, to assume its legal and moral responsibilities. They called for practical and effective measures to protect civilians, preserve hope for the full implementation of the agreement and secure a lasting ceasefire.
They also called for steps to ensure that Israel fulfilled its obligations under international law and international humanitarian law, implemented its responsibilities under United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803 and held those responsible for serious violations accountable.
The ministers categorically rejected any attempt to annex the occupied Palestinian territories, impose Israeli sovereignty over those territories or forcibly displace the Palestinian people.
The ministers reaffirmed that the only path to a just and comprehensive peace was the launch of a serious political process toward a two-state solution, including the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
