Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat announced that 2,454 trucks departed from the Habur Customs Gate in Şırnak’s Silopi district on August 7, 2026, setting the daily truck departure record for the year.
In a post on his NSosyal account, Bolat said the record at Habur showed that Türkiye’s influence on regional trade routes was growing.
The record’s significance for trade routes
Bolat said the figure was a tangible indicator of growing trade with neighboring Iraq, new transit trade corridors extending to the Gulf countries and Türkiye’s goal of becoming a regional logistics hub.
He noted that the Habur Customs Gate was an important crossing point not only for Türkiye-Iraq trade but also for the Silk Road trade corridor connecting Türkiye through Iraq to the Gulf countries and broader markets.

Thanks to exporters and customs employees
Bolat said the departure of 2,454 trucks in a single day demonstrated Türkiye’s strengthening logistics capacity. He thanked exporters, carriers, drivers and customs employees for their contributions to achieving the record.
Bolat said Türkiye would continue expanding its trade routes, strengthening its logistics infrastructure and helping exporters reach global markets more quickly. He added that Türkiye would maintain its goal of becoming a regional trade hub.
