The ordinary general assembly of the Istanbul Amateur Sports Clubs Federation (İASKF) will take place tomorrow at the Karadenizliler Foundation Facilities in İstinye. Hundreds of delegates from amateur sports clubs across Istanbul will attend the elections starting at 10:00 AM. The current president and former TFF official Ali Düşmez will run as the sole candidate.
No opposing list has emerged against Düşmez at the general assembly, and the experienced figure in the amateur sports community is widely expected to renew his mandate. Speaking before the election, Ali Düşmez emphasized that amateur sports clubs are the cornerstone of Turkish sports, stating, "Amateur sports clubs are the heart and supporting pillar of Turkish sports.
Especially football clubs offer hundreds of thousands of young people across the city the chance to become national athletes of the future," he said. Düşmez expressed that they are well aware of the problems faced by clubs operating in Istanbul and said that as a federation, they will continue to protect the rights of athletes and clubs competing in 63 different branches, not just football.
Highlighting financial difficulties, lack of facilities and fields, and equipment shortages as the most important agenda items for amateur sports, Düşmez noted that they are developing new projects to solve these problems. "This is a race of service," said Düşmez, concluding his remarks: "We know the problems of amateur sports across Istanbul and we will solve them. We will stand by our athletes with a strong management approach.
Long live amateur sports clubs, long live amateur athletes." Following the general assembly, the management team and work program of İASKF for the new term will also be finalized.
