Following the completion of the first round of talks in Switzerland to end the Middle East war, Iran stated that the UN's nuclear watchdog will not be able to inspect critical nuclear facilities bombed last year by the US and Israel.
Inspection plans rejected
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Bagheri said at a press conference attended by AFP, "We have not had a meeting with the IAEA Director General, and we also have no plan for the agency to inspect Iran's nuclear facilities, the facilities damaged by US and Zionist military aggression."
Iran's UN Ambassador Ali Bahreini also told journalists that "no such decision" had been taken to allow IAEA inspectors into the country.
New order in the Strait of Hormuz
Chief negotiator Ghalibaf told the official Iranian news agency IRNA that there will be no return to pre-war conditions and that the Strait of Hormuz will be managed by the Islamic Republic of Iran in accordance with international law.
However, according to maritime traffic monitoring firm Kpler, at least 35 commodity vessels transited the waterway on Monday, reaching the highest level since the start of the war.
Diplomatic activity continues
Following the completion of talks in Switzerland, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will visit the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Bahrain to discuss the agreement with Tehran, the Strait of Hormuz, and regional security issues.
Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian visited key mediator Pakistan.
Talks on the Lebanon front
A fifth round of talks between Lebanese and Israeli officials is scheduled to begin on Tuesday in Washington. Lebanese authorities are demanding the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the country and that the negotiations be separated from the US-Iran agreement.
Although clashes have decreased following the declaration of a new ceasefire in Lebanon, state media reported on Tuesday that one person was killed and two were wounded when Israeli soldiers "opened fire with a machine gun" at three people standing next to an excavator waiting to open a road in the south.
