An Iranian delegation has traveled to Switzerland for a new round of talks with the United States. The delegation arrived in Zurich to discuss the process following the ceasefire agreement signed between the US and Iran.
The delegation is accompanied by senior officials such as Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Central Bank Governor Abdolnasser Hemmati, and Deputy Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Ali Bagheri.
In a statement on his social media account, delegation head Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said he believed all activities of the Iranian delegation were being watched by the innocent schoolchildren of Minab and Iran's martyrs.
Initial talks between Iran and the US were planned to take place on Friday at the Buergenstock mountain resort in Switzerland. However, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson emphasized in a statement on Saturday that final negotiations with the US were conditional on the implementation of the five articles of the memorandum of understanding.
The spokesperson stated that the durability of the agreement depended entirely on the other side's stance. The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson explained that the planned visit to Switzerland on Friday was canceled because it lost its urgent necessity after Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and US President Donald Trump digitally signed the memorandum of understanding.
The Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between Iran and the US was signed in the first minutes of June 18, 2026, by Pezeshkian and Trump through a simultaneous digital process without an in-person ceremony.
