TPAO's Oil Exploration License in Edirne and Kırklareli Extended
The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources has extended TPAO's oil exploration license in Edirne and Kırklareli until August 7, 2028, to allow for commercial evaluation and field development following a natural gas discovery in the area.
The decision of the General Directorate of Mining and Petroleum Affairs of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources regarding the Petroleum Right was published in the Official Gazette.
According to the decision, the term of the oil exploration license for the 14,507-hectare onshore area in Turkey's Edirne and Kırklareli provinces, held by the Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO), has been extended.
The new expiration date for the license has been set as August 7, 2028.
The justification for the extension decision was stated as enabling the commercial evaluation of the natural gas discovery made in the area, allowing for the development of the field, and revealing the hydrocarbon potential of the region to benefit the national economy.
