Turkmen politician Seman Aga, elected Minister of State in Iraq, said in a statement in Baghdad that in the new term they will represent not only the Turkmens but all ethnic and political groups in Iraq. Aga said they will also contribute to developing Iraq-Türkiye relations.
Aga said that for the first time in the Iraqi government, a person trained within the Iraqi Turkmen Front organization will take up a ministerial post. Saying the post was made possible by the support and votes of the Turkmens, Aga thanked the Turkmen community.
"For the first time, as someone trained within the ITF organization, we will take office as a minister. We could not have achieved this without the support and votes of the Turkmen nation behind us. Congratulations to the entire Turkmen nation."
How the ministerial process began
Aga said the process of giving the Turkmens a ministerial post began with a proposal by Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi, stressing the importance of the Iraqi Turkmen Front and the Turkmens being represented in the Council of Ministers.

Aga said the post he has assumed does not belong solely to the Iraqi Turkmen Front, adding that they will represent all Turkmen political parties and the Turkmeneli region. He said they aim to serve all the people of Iraq through the ministry.
Kirkuk governorship to remain with the Turkmens
Aga announced that the Kirkuk governorship he is vacating will again go to a Turkmen. He said the governorship will remain with the Turkmens for a few more months until the local elections expected in about 14 months, after which the post will pass to the Arabs for the remaining period.
Aga said the Kirkuk Provincial Council will convene within the next few days and that the new governor will be a Turkmen.

"Within the next few days, the Kirkuk Provincial Council will convene and one of our Turkmen brothers will take over the governorship. Our nation can rest assured."
Aga said they had pledged to hold the Kirkuk governorship on a rotating basis, a post that had not been held for 100 years, and that they had achieved this goal.
Emphasis on serving all ethnic groups
Noting that Iraq and the Middle East are going through a critical period, Aga said they will be the voice of all Turkmen political parties in the ministry. He also said the Turkmens have a vision of taking part in the next elections as a single electoral bloc with the Iraqi Turkmen Front and other Turkmen political parties.

Aga said the Turkmens must act in unity, adding that during his term as Kirkuk governor they did not discriminate among Turkmens, Kurds, Arabs and Christians. He said they will also represent all ethnic groups in the Council of Ministers and serve all of Iraq's provinces.
Iraq-Türkiye relations
Saying that as an Iraqi Turkmen minister they will contribute to developing relations between Türkiye and Iraq, Aga said they will work in cooperation with other Iraqi ministers on common issues concerning the two countries.
Aga listed the Development Road Project, water, energy, trade and security among these issues. Stating that Prime Minister al-Zaidi will give him responsibility for working on important files, Aga said he aims to contribute to the Iraqi people and his country over the next 4 years.
