The Israeli army conducted a military drill along the Syrian border and in parts of the occupied Golan Heights.
The 210th Division completed the drill. Units from neighboring sectors and Home Front Command forces took part, along with local authorities and emergency and rescue teams.
Dozens of scenarios rehearsed during drill
The Israeli army said its forces trained on dozens of scenarios during the drill. The training also incorporated lessons learned from different conflict fronts and from the events of Oct. 7, 2023.
On Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas and other Palestinian groups launched a large-scale retaliatory attack from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel.
The Golan Heights and the buffer zone
Israel has occupied most of the Syrian Golan Heights since 1967. After the fall of Bashar Assad's government in late 2024, Israel declared that the 1974 Agreement on Disengagement of Forces was no longer valid.
Israel later occupied the buffer zone in Syria and several locations, including the Syrian side of Mount Hermon.
Israel also continues to occupy Palestinian and Lebanese territories and refuses to withdraw from these areas or allow the establishment of an independent Palestinian state in line with relevant United Nations resolutions.
