Israel's Maariv newspaper claimed that Turkey poses a greater and more dangerous threat to Israel than Iran.
The newspaper, in an article published yesterday, examined Turkey's rapid development in the defense industry and its military capacity increase in recent years.
NATO's second-largest army
The article emphasized that Turkey has NATO's second-largest army and has reached a domestic production rate of nearly 80 percent in the defense industry.
It stated that the Turkish Armed Forces possess a large tank fleet, the Altay main battle tank, and multi-layered indigenous air defense systems.
Air and naval forces capacity
It noted that the Turkish Air Force has approximately 200 fighter jets, mostly F-16 Fighting Falcons, and multi-role attack helicopters.
According to the newspaper, the most significant threat in a potential conflict could come from the Turkish Naval Forces. These forces were said to include 16 submarines, frigates, and the TCG Anadolu amphibious assault ship.
Operational experience
The article wrote that the Turkish military has accumulated extensive operational experience over decades by fighting armed groups and participating in military operations in Syria and Iraq.
It assessed that this experience has improved the army's combat capability in crowded residential areas and challenging mountainous environments.
