Trabzonspor take the lead in the first half
In the second minute, Kasımpaşa’s goalkeeper tipped Saviolo’s chipped effort over the bar and behind for a corner after the player entered the penalty area from the right. In the third minute, the goalkeeper also denied Nwaiwu from Mustafa Eskihellaç’s cross.
In the 20th minute, Trabzonspor goalkeeper Onana pushed Benedyczak’s shot from the left side of the penalty area back into play. In the 42nd minute, Saviolo met Metehan Mimaroğlu’s cross from the left with a first-time shot that found the net, putting Trabzonspor 1-0 ahead.
The maroon-and-blue side went into halftime with that scoreline.
Kasımpaşa equalize from the penalty spot
Early in the second half, Benedyczak’s sliding effort went wide. In the 54th minute, the referee awarded Kasımpaşa a penalty after Güven Yalçın went down in the area following Pina’s challenge.
Benedyczak sent the penalty into the corner beyond the goalkeeper’s reach to make it 1-1. Trabzonspor came close with a Savic header after a set piece taken by Salah, but the goalkeeper tipped the ball away. In the 76th minute, Salah’s first-time shot went narrowly wide.
Salah makes his first league appearance for Trabzonspor
Trabzonspor’s Egyptian player Muhammed Salah made his first Süper Lig appearance in the club’s maroon-and-blue shirt. Salah came on for Metehan Mimaroğlu in the 58th minute.
Trabzonspor’s new signing Noah Saviolo scored his team’s first goal of the new season. The 22-year-old winger found the net in his first match. Melih Kabasakal and Lopes Cabral also made their first official appearances for Trabzonspor.
Marcus Rafferty and Ayberk Karapo made their first appearances for Kasımpaşa, while Adrian Benedyczak, who spent the second half of last season on loan, also began the new season with a goal. Kasımpaşa signed the Polish striker permanently during the summer transfer window.
Hajradinovic returns after 320 days
Kasımpaşa captain Haris Hajradinovic returned to action 320 days after recovering from his injury. Hajradinovic was injured during the match against Çaykur Rizespor in the seventh week of last season and came on in the second half.
Following Trabzonspor’s goal, an argument broke out in the covered stand occupied by the home supporters. A group of club officials, including Trabzonspor President Ertuğrul Doğan, went to the stand and prevented the tension from escalating.
Tekke and Belözoğlu assess the match
Trabzonspor head coach Fatih Tekke said his team carried out most of the game plan it had prepared, particularly in the first half, but could not protect its lead. Tekke said the mistake that led to the penalty was unacceptable and that the team needed to be more careful.
Tekke said European competition matches would be different from league games and stressed that his team needed to perform well in both defense and attack. The Trabzonspor head coach also announced that they wanted to add two strikers and a midfielder who could win the ball to the squad.
Kasımpaşa head coach Emre Belözoğlu said his team had worked intensively during the preseason and would support the development of its young players. Belözoğlu said they wanted to bring new players into Turkish football in line with the club’s new vision.
Belözoğlu described Haris Hajradinovic as an important leader for the team and announced that they had not risked Kerem Demirbay in the match because of pain in his foot. The Kasımpaşa head coach said they wanted to sign two more players during the week, including a center-back.
