Katy Perry took the stage at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles about ten minutes before the opening match of the 2026 World Cup. She was joined by 10-year-old Norwegian singer Tius Luka.
The duo performed "Wonder," a track from Perry’s seventh studio album, 143. Luka sang the opening and closing parts of the song during the performance.
The stage was surrounded by flags from various countries, creating a vibrant atmosphere. The audience in the stadium greeted the performance with applause.
At the end of the duet, Perry embraced Luka before leaving the stage. Their heartfelt moment became one of the highlights of the opening ceremony.
Before the performance, Perry shared a video explaining that Luka had recorded his part of the song in 2021 when he was just five years old. She said she heard the vocals in 2023 and wrote her own lyrics for "Wonder."
Perry also noted that Tius is now 10 years old and traveled from Norway to Los Angeles to sing the song with her. This made the World Cup opening ceremony a memorable event showcasing music and a young voice together.
