European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde described the ceasefire agreement reached with Iran as good news. She emphasized that the verification of the agreement and the steps to be taken in the coming days, especially the potential reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, are particularly important.
In an interview with France Culture radio, Lagarde said, "If these developments are confirmed and a memorandum of understanding is signed, it is good news. We would welcome that."
Lagarde also stressed that the process is not yet complete. She noted that the issue of uranium enrichment in Iran still needs to be discussed, agreed upon, and finalized in a possible deal.
US and Iranian officials announced a preliminary agreement to end the conflict and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. This development led to a drop in oil prices while leaving the future of Tehran’s nuclear program to subsequent negotiations.
