Istanbul — Liverpool is preparing to launch an international football academy program in Türkiye for children and young people aged 5 to 16.
The program aims to develop the technical, tactical, physical and social skills of promising footballers. Participants will train in line with Liverpool’s football approach and the club methodology described as the “Liverpool way.”
Local coaches will also receive training
Ian Rush, a Liverpool Academy ambassador and one of the club’s former footballers, said Türkiye has a strong football culture and expressed his satisfaction that the country would join the academy’s global network.
Rush said the training programs would not be limited to players and that local coaches would also be trained in line with the philosophy and technical methods applied at the main academy in Liverpool. The work aims to help players and coaches develop their skills both on and off the field.
Positive environment planned for young players
Selçuk Güler, general manager of the Liverpool International Academy in Türkiye, said they were proud to launch the project. Güler noted that the club has a large fan base in Türkiye.
The academy is planned to provide a positive environment that will help young players build confidence and develop their skills. The program aims to make a lasting contribution to grassroots football in Türkiye at various levels.
