The Strategic Political and Defense Committee of the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement decided after an emergency meeting in Riyadh to move urgently to implement collective defense commitments and to provide and rapidly deploy agreed military forces and capabilities to Saudi Arabia, in line with the parties’ national legislation.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan told reporters: “We discussed in all dimensions what kind of support can be given to Saudi Arabia on the Yemen issue and what can be done to resolve the problem peacefully.” Retired Pakistani Lt. Gen. Nauman Mahmood was appointed the alliance’s first secretary-general for three years.
