Trade Minister Ömer Bolat said trade between Türkiye and the United States could reach $50 billion by 2028 at the latest.
Bolat spoke at the ACE BPSC 2026 conference in Istanbul, which was attended by approximately 2,000 U.S. investors and companies operating in Türkiye’s production, trade and export sectors.
Trade approached $43 billion in the first nine months
Bolat said bilateral trade totaled $38.6 billion last year, adding that it rose 17% in the first nine months of this year to approximately $43 billion.

“We can reach $50 billion in total trade between the two countries by 2028 at the latest,” Bolat said.
Number of foreign investors approaches 90,000
Bolat said Türkiye had attracted $294 billion in foreign direct investment over the past 23 years, adding that the number of foreign companies and investors had risen from approximately 5,000 in 2002 to around 90,000 this year.
Bolat said Türkiye and the United States remained committed to the goal of increasing their annual bilateral trade volume to $100 billion. The goal was put forward by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and U.S. President Donald Trump.
