Türkiye’s Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy visited the “From Constantinople to Istanbul: One City, Two Empires” exhibition at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A). In a post on his social media account, Minister Ersoy said, “Istanbul’s centuries-spanning artistic and cultural heritage is meeting the world in London.”
Ersoy said the exhibition was a project coordinated by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, with museums and institutions in Türkiye also contributing works.
Footage shared by the ministry shows Minister Ersoy being welcomed at the museum and touring the exhibition while listening to officials explain the works on display. Members of a delegation also accompanied Ersoy during the visit.
Türkiye’s Embassy in London also shared the exhibition and called on visitors to “discover Istanbul’s rich history and heritage at the V&A’s special exhibition dedicated to this historic city.” The exhibition presents visitors with Istanbul’s cultural heritage spanning the Byzantine and Ottoman periods.
